Terms of Service

By accessing or using Expresso (“the Platform”), a service operated by AggieWorks at UC Davis, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Platform.

The Platform is available to:

• Students— currently enrolled UC Davis students who authenticate with a valid @ucdavis.edu email address.
• Mentors— UC Davis alumni, graduate students, or professionals approved by the Expresso team.

You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction to use the Platform.

Expresso is a mentorship platform that facilitates one-on-one coffee chat connections between UC Davis students and alumni or professional mentors. The Platform provides scheduling tools, user profiles, and communication features to support these connections.

You must sign in using your Google account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information in your profile.
• Keep your profile information up to date.
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account at expresso@aggieworks.org.

You agree not to use the Platform to:

• Harass, threaten, or intimidate other users.
• Post or transmit unlawful, defamatory, or offensive content.
• Impersonate any person or entity.
• Collect or harvest personal information from other users without consent.
• Use the Platform for commercial solicitation unrelated to mentorship purposes.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Platform or its related systems.

Your use of the Platform is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Platform, you consent to our collection and use of your information as described therein. We collect basic profile information from your Google account (name, email address, and profile picture) solely to provide and improve the Platform. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Expresso facilitates connections between students and mentors but is not responsible for the content, quality, or outcome of any mentorship session. Users agree to:

• Conduct all interactions in a professional and respectful manner consistent with UC Davis's Student Code of Conduct.
• Honor scheduled meetings or cancel with reasonable notice.
• Not use mentor contact information obtained through the Platform for purposes outside of the mentorship program.

All content, trademarks, and other intellectual property on the Platform are the property of AggieWorks / UC Davis or their respective owners. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written permission. You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Platform, but grant Expresso a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display that content as necessary to operate the service.

The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, AggieWorks and UC Davis shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Platform, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount, if any, paid by you to use the Platform in the twelve months preceding the claim.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time and for any reason, including if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform will immediately cease. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page with a new effective date. Your continued use of the Platform after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Yolo County, California.
